What Buyers Usually See

Uneven sheen across one face; dull or hazy patches in consistent locations (often near the gate, over thick sections, or at the end of fill); glossy streaks on a matte texture; visible gloss banding; or assembled products where neighboring parts no longer match.   • Has anything changed in material lot, regrind, or colorant between the lots that differ?
  • How is the tool’s texture/polish condition verified, and when was it last assessed?
  • Can we agree gloss on the key faces as a measured value (gloss meter, angle stated) rather than by eye?

Documents or Evidence to Request

  • Sample parts from the lots in question, labeled, for side-by-side review under agreed lighting.
  • Gloss-meter readings on agreed points/angles, if the program justifies instrumented checks.
  • Process records for the compared lots (mold temps, cycle, material lot).
  • A reference (“golden”) sample agreed and retained by both sides—the anchor for every future dispute.

When to Delay Mold or Production Approval

  • No measurable or reference-sample standard exists yet for the cosmetic faces—set it before approval, not after the first rejected shipment.
  • Gloss varies between cavities and the worst cavity hasn’t been reviewed.
  • The variation’s cause is unidentified and the supplier proposes shipping while investigating.
  • A texture/polish remediation is pending on the tool.

What to Include in the Next RFQ
